Support Your Coach!

The Yoga for Cyclists worksop is coming! If you are interested in coming please email info@Pranavayogacenter.com to reserve a spot. Space is limited. I am also honored to be a part of the 2012 summer teacher training program at Pranava Yoga Center! I will be guiding the yoga instructors of tomorrow through the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

I offer custom monthly programs based on your training or racing goals, family obligations, work commitments, current fitness level and racing history. I coach everyone from elite endurance athletes to those looking to get in shape for the holidays and commute in the spring. Iʼve raced at the highest level in BMX, mountain cross, downhill, cross country, cyclocross, and ultra-endurance. Recently my main focus has been xc and endurance MTB events at the Pro level. I even race on the road from time to time and sprinkle in a few running races in the off-season. I commute by bicycle nearly every day and love to get out for a weekend bikepacking adventure. Iʼm a Level 2 certified coach through USA Cycling. I am a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor and guide a class every Tuesday and Wednesday night at Pranava Yoga Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Please email me at  pedalsnotpistons@hotmail.com with your questions or comments.

I use some prehistoric methods, some modern day science and some wide-eyed experimentation in my coaching methods. My coaching philosophy can be summed up in one cliche sounding phrase "sustainable racing". The word sustainability gets thrown around a lot these days. Sustainable racing goes beyond the obvious ride from the house to the trail or riding to the wednesday night race. Both of which are wonderful. When I use the word sustainable, Iʼm talking about finding a program that is sustainable for the long haul. When your quest for UCI points and that coveted series championship has left you racing without a purpose, will you be able find meaning in this the most noble of past times? Cranking out intervals by yourself at 6am is great but isnʼt sustainable for most people over the course of a season. I strive to integrate what you find enjoyable into a training program that will make you the best you can be. I guide my athletes through the process, rather than blindly prescribe some arbitrary intervals done to the sound of an empty sound track. Iʼm constantly expanding what the process entails for myself and the athletes I coach.

"...all consciousness of myself and the outside world would vanish to be replaced by the fluid state of action alone..." -Brad Warner

It is this state of bliss, this state of becoming fluid in every action that most athletes strive for, but it doesnʼt come without a balanced training plan. Focusing on one aspect of any given experience is an unstable position to be in. Eventually this are going to fall apart. When cycling or racing or any one thing becomes everything the end of that lovely state of cycling bliss is near. And with the highest highs come the lowest of lows. You see this in athletes who feel invincible at the peak of their fitness thinking it will continue on forever, only to come crashing down... you wonʼt always get it right and I wonʼt always get it right either, but we will give it one hell of a go and there in lies the success.

"Effort is the real thing and what we call success is just the manifestation of our minds ability to categorize things"- Dogen
